Lyral

Lyral (Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde) is a synthetic aroma chemical known for its delicate floral fragrance reminiscent of lily of the valley (muguet) with soft green and citrus-like nuances. It has historically been used in perfumery to provide freshness, brightness, and smooth floral character within fragrance compositions.

In fragrance formulation, Lyral functions primarily as a heart note enhancer, helping to create soft, dewy floral accords and improving the balance of fresh and floral blends. It blends especially well with aldehydes, citrus notes, white florals, and soft musks, giving perfumes a light and elegant floral lift.

Due to updated IFRA regulations, Lyral is restricted for use in many cosmetic and skin-contact fragrance products. However, it may still be used in non-cosmetic applications such as candles, incense, air fresheners, and fragrance learning or experimentation projects where regulations permit.

Its smooth floral profile makes it particularly useful for creating muguet-style accords, fresh floral bouquets, and green floral compositions in fragrance development.
