Herbology Cinnamon Essential Oil is 100% pure, therapeutic grade Cinnamomum verum (True Cinnamon / Ceylon Cinnamon) bark oil, steam distilled from the inner bark of the world's most prized and historically significant spice tree. Known as "Dar Chini" in Urdu and Hindi, cinnamon has been one of the most valuable traded commodities in human history, mentioned in ancient Chinese texts dating to 2700 BCE, referenced in the Old Testament, and so prized in ancient Rome that Emperor Nero reportedly burned an entire year's supply at the funeral of his wife as the ultimate gesture of extravagance. The spice trade routes that brought cinnamon from Sri Lanka and South Asia to the Mediterranean world were among the most consequential commercial networks in human history, driving the Age of Exploration and shaping the modern world. Cinnamomum verum (Ceylon Cinnamon) is the true cinnamon, distinguished from the more common Cassia cinnamon by its lower coumarin content, more delicate and complex aroma, and superior therapeutic profile.

Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil's primary active compound is cinnamaldehyde, typically comprising 55 to 75% of the oil, a powerful phenylpropanoid with extensively documented antimicrobial, antifungal, anti inflammatory, and vasodilatory properties. Cinnamaldehyde's vasodilatory action is the mechanism behind cinnamon oil's warming, circulation stimulating effect on the scalp and skin, increasing local blood flow to hair follicles and supporting a more active, nourished follicle environment. Its antimicrobial and antifungal action addresses scalp microorganisms including dandruff causing Malassezia fungi. Its eugenol content contributes additional analgesic and anti inflammatory properties for muscle and joint massage applications. In aromatherapy, its warm, spicy, deeply familiar aroma is one of the most comforting and mood warming scents in the botanical world, with documented ability to reduce stress and promote a sense of warmth and security. Cinnamon Bark Oil is one of the most potent essential oils available and requires careful dilution. Always dilute thoroughly before skin application.

  • Cinnamaldehyde Vasodilatory Action (55 to 75%) increases local blood circulation to hair follicles and skin for a warming, stimulating, and nourishing effect
  • Scalp Stimulation and Hair Growth Support vasodilatory and antimicrobial action creates a healthier, more active scalp environment for hair growth
  • Antifungal and Antimicrobial addresses dandruff causing Malassezia fungi and supports skin clarity
  • Eugenol Analgesic and Anti Inflammatory provides additional pain relieving and anti inflammatory action for muscle and joint massage blends
  • Deeply Warming Aromatherapy one of the most comforting and mood warming botanical aromas; documented stress reducing and emotionally warming effects
  • 100% Pure and Therapeutic Grade steam distilled from Cinnamomum verum bark; no additives, fillers, or synthetic fragrance

Applications

  • Scalp stimulation and hair growth support
  • Warming muscle and joint massage blends
  • Antimicrobial skin and scalp care
  • Comforting and warming aromatherapy
  • DIY beauty and wellness formulations

How to Use

  • Scalp stimulation: Add 2 to 3 drops only to 30ml of carrier oil (coconut or jojoba) and massage into scalp. Leave for 15 to 20 minutes before washing out. Start with the lowest concentration and increase gradually as tolerance builds. The warming sensation is normal and indicates vasodilatory activity.
  • Warming massage blend: Add 3 to 5 drops to 30ml of carrier oil and massage into muscles and joints for a deeply warming, circulation boosting experience. Pairs powerfully with black pepper and ginger essential oils for an intensely warming therapeutic blend.
  • Aromatherapy: Add 3 to 5 drops to a diffuser for a warm, spicy, comforting atmosphere. Pairs beautifully with orange, clove, and vanilla for a classic warm spice blend ideal for cold weather and relaxation.
  • DIY formulations: Add at 0.1 to 0.5% maximum concentration in skin care formulations. Cinnamon Bark Oil is one of the most potent skin sensitizers among essential oils and must be used at very low concentrations.
  • Tip: Dar Chini (cinnamon) holds a special place in South Asian wellness traditions, used in Unani and Ayurvedic medicine for centuries as a warming, circulation stimulating, and antimicrobial botanical. Adding 2 to 3 drops to your regular hair oil blend provides a deeply warming scalp stimulation boost that is particularly effective in cold weather.
  • Important: Always dilute thoroughly before skin application. Maximum skin use concentration is 0.1 to 0.5% due to high sensitization potential of cinnamaldehyde. Never apply undiluted. Perform a patch test before first use. Avoid during pregnancy. Avoid on sensitive or damaged skin. Do not ingest. Keep away from children. If skin irritation or burning occurs, apply carrier oil immediately to dilute and remove from skin.
